When United States Air Force families move on base they have several forms of support and assistance available to them. There are a wide variety of assistance services and all are put in place to make moving to a base and living there easier. These forms of assistance are offered through official military programs and those staffed by volunteers.
On a USAF base there are loan lockers which are stocked with different type of common household items. Some of the items found in a loan locker are kitchen utensils and told such as hammers and screwdrivers. Other items found in many of these lockers are sleeping mats, baby cribs, tables, and chaise. All of these items can be borrowed for free by families staying on base.
Ways to Give Back
Loan lockers and other assistance services are provide on USAF bases through the Airmen and Family Readiness Centers. These centers are staffed with volunteers who see to it that loan lockers are well stocked. These volunteers are also responsible for making sure that several of the other resources made available through them are either well stocked or properly updated.
